Horde vs roundcube vs squirrelmail 20168/29/2023 Plus AFAIK it hasn't been as battletested as Roundcube etc. Like maybe an internal sysadmin webmail etc. This may be a great choice for people 100% about functionality. Plain white page with hyperlinks, stylin/skins goes as far as changing some colors. I know I've been bit*#ng about being too much all the way so far but okay this is just gone too far. Cypht: works ok (minimal testing), looks bare damn metal minimal.Horde, squirrelmail, Pymail: TLDR just absolutely terribly old, unmaintained, careless or simply not fit for the job. That coupled with the dependencies and possible workarounds needed to get it only as a webmail, meh. No big deal but even without animations the look / structure doesn't feel handy to me. Animations can be turned off but it still feels slower than others. It's all about Google's material style which I don't like to begin with and it's animated and slow. I'm sure it could be hacked and messed around to get working and disable unnecessary stuff etc, but wasn't worth it, because:) and still feels and looks weird. It works well, obviously, but does too much that I don't need and asks for too much (systemd dependency etc. I wanted to run stuff dockerized, nicely separated. That's good for some (most?) people, not for me. Do I wanna pay for the commercial version and THEN after that create my own theme? Absolutely not, thanks. This is good stuff if you can put up with the looks which IMO still feels ~a decade old styled and clunky with those wannabe-tryhard animations and backgrounds etc. Functionality is just as good as Roundcube's but coupled with a very handy admin page for easy and quick configuration. Rainloop: ALL the themes are very, very unprofessional looking not serious at all and feels very intrusive.Roundcube remains my to-go spin-up reliable open source solution but it's just old Yes, it probably could've been hacked into a working state but would still feel clunky eh. Yes, there's a plugin, no it doesn't work once installed per documentation. But I was ok with it but not with trivial stuff missing like "automatic address book". The newest release with the 'Elastic' theme is looking alright but still just kinda clunky (don't have better wordings for it, I'm a backend guy myself too not a UX designer). Roundcube: while the framework is excellent and very configurable, it still feels old (as it is, frankly).I've been eagerly looking for a webmail app for weeks now and I've tried Roundcube, Rainloop, Sogo, etc but neither fit my needs perfectly.
